The novel “The Hunger Games” is part of the dystopian fiction genre written by Suzanne Collins. Throughout the novel, the reader is exposed to Katniss as a person and are able to see Katniss’s personality traits. Suzanne Collins displays many strength and weaknesses that Katniss upholds. Some of her greatest strengths and weaknesses are used to the best of her ability and some to the worst.
Throughout the novel, Katniss uses some of her weaknesses to the best of her ability. For example, one of Katniss’s personality traits is being too empathetic. This trait is a weakness for Katniss because she tends to get too attached to aertain things which have the potential to leave her unhappy in the end. However, this weakness was used to benefit her in the book. During Rue’s death, Katniss showed a lot of simpathy since she became attached to her and looked at almost as if Rue was her younger sibling. Katniss’s weakness worked in her favour because after showing the level of sympathy, she won Rue’s districts favour and and she received positive feedback from District eleven which was Rue’s District. Another weakness that Katness had was how she did not whant to harm anyone, and she found it very difficult to kill people. This trait that she possed was very inconvient for the Games, considering that in order to win one must slaughter others so that there can only be one victor. With this trait, she struggled when it came to murdering people because of what a kind soul she is.
Katniss’s gratest strength in the Games is her perseverance and her ability to work hard and never give up. This strength certainly worked well in Katnisses favour because once she was put into the arena she strived very hard to get the ending that she obtained which was staying alive and winning the Games.
