The fact that most religions include the idea of ‘free will’ I disagree with this statement. Free will is having the ability to choose or determine there own individual actions. Within christianity, the idea of free will is discussed by St Augustine. He makes references to the ‘dignity of the human person with respect to its rational soul.’ He also discusses the fact that we should act morally. Christians also believe that humans are free, autonomous agents, which links to the fact that we are equal; therefore no human being is more important that another.
The catholic church is now also accepting the fact that some people are disabled, however not due to their own doing, and they are now treating disabled people with more respect within the church. This may be due to the fact that the bible now states that having a disability or sickness means that you are closer to Jesus, as he was punished whilst he was on the cross and that due to your suffering you can return to christ.
In Islam the idea of free will is also followed. For example, they believe that somebodies freedom is down to the idea of their religious guidance and/or dignity; or even laws in which are followed. These three ideas can not over rule their freedom however.
Leading on from this, I disagree further, due to the fact that males and females are both now equally valued however are still different. Also, people who are religious (or not) who have committed a sin, can be seen in religion as or sometimes more valuable than believers, (e.g prodigal son). Finally, the idea that able bodied and less able bodied people are simply different creations, and one is not inferior to the other, also links into why i disagree with the fact that some human beings are more important than others.
