“The Soldier” was a great hero that lived through many years. He lived
through 1776 America, 1941 Pearl Harbor, 1968 Vietnam, all the way to 2009
Iraq. He learned a lot through those years. He also learned that he wasn’t
respected and honored the way he should be. This essay will show you how and
why you should honor our Soldiers, Past and Present.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal;
that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that
among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness 1.” I do not believe in
this because no one is created equal. Everybody is unique with their own
capabilities in order to succeed. “The Soldier” is unique because he is a hero that
will fight and die for other people like us. That is one unique characteristic this
man possesses. We should honor this man, but we don’t. America and I should
be ashamed of ourselves.
In 1776, “The Soldier” was fighting against the British for us. A reason to
Honor this veteran. In 1941 Pearl Harbor, he shot down many zeroes 2. Another
reason to honor this hero. Many years later to 2009, “The Soldier” saved us
again from terrorists in Iraq. Again, another reason to honor this unique hero. We
don’t honor this hero though. We take veterans that risk their life for us for
granted. We should stop these selfish habits, and start honoring our veterans
past and present!
