Analysis’s report about syllabi in CAP 1
To complete my master’s degree in the department of Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology at John A Burns School of medicine, I have to take 2 seminar courses of Developmental and reproductive Biology (DRB 613 & DRB 614), an Anatomy course (ANAT 607), and Development and reproductive Biology (DRB 601). The evaluation methods of DRB 601 and ANAT 607 generally require 2 exams and lab’s report, but the two seminar’s courses do not require exam or report’s paper; they only require to attending the classes.
One course I have to take to complete my degree is Anatomy (ANAT 607). The objectives of this course are to help students to learn a series of critical events that create the structurally intact and functional human body and all of the genetic, molecular, and cellular mechanisms regulating these events during embryo development; and this course also discuss about various issues that are of bioethical concerns resulting from new advancements in medicine such as embryonic stem cells, egg preservation, and other medical technologies. The course requirements are to take two exams midterm and final exams with multiple choices, to write a paper for lab’s report, and to participate class on time from 1:30 pm to 3:30pm every Tuesday and Thursday. To understand deeply anatomy and help for the exams, this course is recommended reading articles provided in class and textbook Langman’s Medical Embryology, 10th or 11th Edition, by T.W. Sadler. Grading for this course is based on the grade of midterm exam (30%), final exam (30%), participation and discussion in lectures (20%), and lab’s report (20%).
One more course I took in last fall 2009 is DRB 601 “Fertilization and early development”.
