Project Assignment {draw:frame} Starting Point Early on, I decided that I wanted create a sustainable product that was accessible to all and that all could afford. A fashion major and a beauty enthusiast, I also decided to go in a direction familiar to me: fashion and beauty. So when Professor Carr asked the class to write down 15 ideas on how I could make my life more sustainable, 15 ideas on how I could positively influence other’s actions toward sustainability, and 15 ideas on what challenges the President of the United States can issue to challenge the country regarding sustainability, I wrote down ideas that related to fashion and beauty. In hindsight, I did not experience an “aha moment” that sparked aflame; I knew what direction I wanted to head in from the beginning. Exploration The exploration portion of the project began when Professor Carr asked the class to write down 15 ideas on how I could make my life more sustainable, 15 ideas on how I could positively influence other’s actions toward sustainability, and 15 ideas on what challenges the President of the United States can issue to challenge the country regarding sustainability. Knowing what direction I was headed, I uncensored my thoughts and spit out ideas. A few ideas I generated on how I could become more sustainable were make my own beauty products, take shorter showers, and wash my clothes by hand. A few ideas I generated on how I could influence other’s actions toward sustainability included creating an organic clothing line, starting an eco-friendly club, and sending chain emails regarding sustainability. A few ideas I generated on what challenges the President of the United States can issue to challenge the country regarding sustainability included creating a celebrity campaign on sustainability, passing a law to punish citizens who used too much power, and starting a eco-friendly focus group in every community.
