We thought that the character in the song might be trying to be someone else because they feel they don’t fit in. We thought it was exploring two people in a relationship and one changes their appearance with different people. But the other person hates it and thinks they look silly.
We all wondered if we had ever behaved in this way or if we change in different places. We were told to create a piece of theatre based on this stimulus.
Our initial thoughts were mental issues and how that can change someone. After disusing different issues we came up with the idea of bi-polar. We decided on this as it’s quite an abstract idea and we thought it had quite a lot of dramatic potential. At first we had a discussion on scene 1 ideas but we decided to do some research to fully understand the condition and to make sure we preformed it accurately as possible. Once we have our research we brought it all together and made a spider diagram.
In our performance we used music, a video recording, a voice recording and costume. The music we used was stop and stare and we used this as when people have Bi –polar people stare. We used fix you as the characters wanted to fix the character with bi-polar and we used high because the music matched the mood of the piece. The use of music created an atmosphere and helped scene changes. We used a video recording right at the end which showed the victim sat at a school desk writing a diary entry.
