Informative Speech

The following speech assignment is a multipart/multi-grade project. You may want to acquire a CD-R or USB drive to store your materials if you do not already have one. For this presentation, I would encourage using the resources through the Library, which can be found at www.ignatius/edu under the library drop down menu. While online sources may help, sources such as books, encyclopedias and even textbooks may be valuable as well.

For this speech you will give an informative speech on significant person in history, specifically in the areas of politics, military, science, religion or entertainment. You must have 1 visual aids and will prepare an outline, which may be made using Inspiration on your topic. The breakdown of the speech is as follows:
• Single-spaced outline in correct form as discussed in class. This will have 5 areas: intro, biography, significant achievements, important dates/impact on history, and conclusion. Includes a bibliography (work cited). Worth 15 points. Bring a rough copy of your outline to class on Monday for class discussion.
• A 3 minute informative speech with a cushion of +/- 15 seconds (50 points). In the speech you are to give a clear and concise overview of who your person is and why they are significant and yet NOT famous (i.e. why we should know about them but do not). The topics for your presentation should follow your outline. You are being graded on your verbal and nonverbal communication, your intro and conclusion, your transitions, and the details you give for your topic. Due dates are below.
• 1 Visual aid that enhances presentation. This can be posters, pictures, artifacts- 1 piece that aids in understanding more about your person.
