Abstract
Reality television, pop stars, celebrities, and athletes are the highlight of today’s media. These are the new generation of heroes and role models for our youth and young adults. Athletes of today can be some the most looked up to by our youth more than any other profession. When you’re a young child you are surrounded by superheroes from comic book shelves, television and movies. It seems that Americans all across the nation have begun to forget what the true meaning of a HERO is.

Over the last 20 years it seems that the definition of a hero has changed greatly, not just in the eye of the beholder but those that are heard all around the world. While Celebrities influence our youth, the media fails to talk about “Real heroes,” because people only see and hear what the media delivers to them, a hero is selfless and asks for nothing, and the media only cares about blood, violence and glamour.
Reality television, pop stars, celebrities, and athletes are the highlight of today’s media. These are the individuals that receive the most attention from the media, and those who idolize them, regardless of what they do in the public’s eye. These are the new generation of heroes and role models for our youth and young adults.
From our youth and young adults, reality television show “Jersey Shore” was an instant hit when it was first aired on MTV. Both boys and girls in a variety of ages would sit and watch Jersey Shore and would take part and fall in love with the cast. Within the first season they were exposed to woman who were half dressed with their breasts and butt hanging out and thinking it was sexy.
