In the group I was placed in we were chosen to do a scene from Into the Woods. I am an actor in my group and am in the first scene. The character I play is Cinderella’s prince. In the scene we start off in the club and I am looking for her but can not seem to find her. I end up bumping into my brother who is Rapunzel’s prince (played by Mike). At this point the talking begins and we get into our scene. By being an actor I have not really had any difficulties learning my lines or being able to get into character. I would have to say the most difficult thing involved with acting is being able to contribute to bringing out the directors vision. Chantal is most definitely not a difficult person to work with and neither are the rest of my group members but I can understand how in a different more pressuring situation that it might be difficult to do so.
It really did not take much time for me to learn my lines. It just took a little bit of practicing. Mike and I probably spent about two hours together going over our lines and figuring out our placement and how we should make everything flow together. After going over it together for some time we decided that since we were familiar with placement and how we would make it work together that we would go our separate ways and just focus individually on getting our lines down pact. The method I used to memorize my lines is to rely on what Mike says. I have set a cue in my mind for the last couple of word for each line he has to know when and what I am supposed to say when it comes to my lines. We will most likely go over our scene a couple of times before class to make sure we get all of the kinks out.
I really enjoyed working with the group I have been placed in and feel like it is a good mix of people. By doing this group project it has allowed me to get a feel and a better understanding of what the process of preparing and acting going through setting up a play is like.
