-Started special ed program for emotionally disturbed kids 8 months ago
-Individual psychotherapy
-Enuresis (inability to control urination, yet expected to be old enough)
-Fecal smearing
-psychotropic meds
-IQ-borderline cognitive functioning
-3 year old sister, Cindy
-lives in group home

-Healthy and well adjusted
Three other kids live in the group home
Sisters have been in the home for 2 years
Parental rights are being terminated
Alternatives for long-term placement are being explored
-Asked to make an independent recommendation regarding priorities for the children
-Should the sisters be placed together?
-Or should each sibling be planned for separately?
-Agency policy is to adopt siblings together
-Keep in mind that Cindy is a more desirable candidate if she is available to be adopted alone. As the worker for Suzanne, what would you do? What ethical dilemmas do you face?
-Talk about attachment disorder
-Talk about the effects of attachment disorder on siblings (no bonds etc)
-I am going to try to focus on the fact that Suzanne cant maintain relationships
-Talk about how her actions can be harmful to her sister Cindy (fecal smearing and lack of urination control)
-Give Cindy an opportunity to be adopted into a family where attachments can be made
-Attention can be focused on Suzanne and treatment Ethical dilemma
-Do we keep the sisters together or separate them to better the younger one’s chance of being adopted and finding normalcy
