Scholarship Review

When someone is physically different from everyone else it’s easy to judge, because you feel like you are superior to them in some way if you are the person who seems “normal” to everyone else. I think it’s sad that someone would take advantage of something as simple, as that but as everything rises, someday it must fall.
Thanks to MLK I get the privilege to have a public education; I say this because I’m Hispanic. My first language is Spanish, and then I learned English when I entered pre kinder. If it wasn’t for MLK I would have never had the chance to learned English, or even go to school. His dream inspired me, to challenge myself to become a better person. As I pass through high school I have realized that, because of him now students can interact with one another ethnic groups without being judged. I like that because you get to meet people from different ethnicities. Beliefs that you would have never have thought of. I’m grateful that I can have this experience that not everyone can have, and all this that dreams can come true, if you make them come true.
The reason why I picked the picture of MLK showing different emotions was because anyone can make this faces and gestures. When I see this picture it reminds me, of myself trying to make my dream come true. One of my biggest dreams is to go to Oregon state university, and try out for the cheerleading team. Then I realize that I’m even closer to MLK than I thought I was because I can compare his dream with mine and then I feel, like if he could have done it then so can I . His smile in the last picture makes me want to smile as well because it shows me that we are not as different as I thought we were but instead relatable. As a Hispanic I have also been discriminated to this day, I feel that feeling of deception and discrimination it’s sad.
