If granted the ESCC scholarship I plan on studying there for two years to get my Associate's Degree in Science. After that I plan on transferring to VCU and pursue a Biomedical Engineering Master's Degree. After I get that I hope to get a job in research development. I read about Biomedical Engineers developing respiratory devices in case of chemical warfare. I think Biomedical Engineers can change many peoples lives for the better.
I need the financial assistance because my parents will always have a lot of bills if they put me through college. I do not want to put this burden on them. I am the oldest child so I want them to be able to put my two younger brothers through college also. My dad also received a 20% salary cut recently that was for all the employees of the defense department. Bills still have to be paid and since the salary cut went into effect this year when I go to college bills will only pile up. I have a job and I work extremely hard at 35 hours a week still going to high school. I would really appreciate the scholarship so I may pursue my dreams, and so my brothers can to one day.
In high school I was in the beta club ,P.A.S.S And FBLA. I made Honor roll or Principals list every semester except one in 11th grade. I was in two performances for the Drama club. I have my A+ Certification from Computer systems. In 11th grade for Computer systems I went to a Skills USA competition and won first in district and in the states I placed fourth.
