The Benefits of Mastering Communication Skills

The essay that I will be discussing is having the benefits of mastering communication skills. I will show you how important it is to have this particular skill that few people master. I will also show the consequences of not having this skill. This particular skill is necessary in everyday life.

A person whom has mastered communication skills will be able to advance in employment, or be hired for employment. Good communication between a spouse, family, or friends has a healthy and long lasted relationship. Mastering communication skills is not only verbal language it is also nonverbal language. Body posture and eye contact they support the verbal message and are part of mastering, communication skill. When people are master’s in communication they can excel in anything they do from leading the country to succeeding in employment. There are so few people who have mastered the skill of communication, for example, Abraham Lincoln was a master of communication. He communicated with the people of the union. Thence President Lincoln said “Abraham Lincoln, June 26, 1857 [The black person is] as much entitled to…the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…as the white man”. (cited Howard Jones, 1999, University of Nebraska Press Lincoln and London). After President Lincoln communication he put into effect the Emancipation proclamation, which eventually freed the slaves. Without President Lincoln’s communication, slaves would not have been freed. Another exceptional master of communication was Martin Luther King, jr. Mr. King was the leader of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s “I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice” (www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/mlkihaveadream.htm, speech date 8-29-63).
