The Ultimate Beatles Tribute
On January 15th, 2009, I attended a concert at McMahon Auditorium. The OKMusicShow presented Liverpool Legends, a group from Branson, Missouri. The members of the band are all musicians as well as actors. All members were hand-picked by Louise Harrison, sister of the late George Harrison of The Beatles, to recreate the band that changed the face of music forever.
The concert was set to begin at 7:30 p.m., with doors to open at 6:45 p.m. I arrived early to purchase a ticket at the box office because I had not reserved one in advance. While standing in line waiting for the doors to open, I briefly engaged in a conversation with an older gentleman about the weather and how cold it was. He had mentioned that his daughter was supposed to accompany him, but she had just started a new job and could not get the night off. He said that he still had the extra ticket and would be glad to sell it to me for $20.00. I accepted his offer and was surprised to get such a good seat.
After taking my seat, which was in Row E, Seat 5, I took a few notes of my observations of the stage and especially that of the crowd. For the most part, it was an older crowd; I would say the generation that grew up listening to The Beatles. The auditorium seats filled quickly, and as the lights dimmed, the curtains raised and the show began at 7:30 p.m. The Liverpool Legends took the stage wearing black suits and ties opening up the show with the song “I Want to Hold Your Hand”. The crowd didn’t have one problem singing along to this song! The pitch in the song “She Loves You” was very obvious as they each hit their high and low notes to near perfection.
