Scenario:
This task enables you to apply psychological theory within a practical context. For the passes you are able to choose your own Health and Social Care settings and show how you could use psychological theory within these. You also have the opportunity to compare and contrast psychological theories, and evaluate how far they can be used within your chosen Health and Social Care settings.
Task
For the first part of the assignment you need to create a poster about two psychological theories of your choice (e.g. Biological, Behaviourist, Humanistic, Cognitive, Psychodynamic, Social Learning Theory), explain how some of the core beliefs from each perspective can be used within one health care setting of your choice (e.g. nursing, midwifery, GP surgery, hospitals etc
You also need to create a poster about; two psychological theories of your choice (e.g. Biological, Behaviourist, Humanistic, Cognitive, Psychodynamic, Social Learning Theory), explain some of the core beliefs from each perspective can be used within one social care setting of your choice (e.g. a primary school, Social Work, a day centre etc.)
To reach the merit, you need to include a section on each poster which compares two psychological theories when applied to one health and one social care service.
Identify any similarities and differences between the two theories
Compare their applicability to each setting – does one theory hold more relevance to a particular setting?
This will lead you onto discussing each theory’s strengths and weaknesses e.g. how well can it be used within the chosen health/social care setting/service?
