Being a Christian
In becoming a christian we have committed our lives completly to Jesus Christ who is our Lord and saviour. We have asked for forgivness for our sins and asked God into our lives to control and clense us. Now becoming a christian and being a christian can and are two completly diffrent things. And the book Being a Christian tackles the idea of being a christian.
We as christians took the first step by commiting our lives to Jesus Christ and by our taking this step He in return has given us a new life in him. Hense a born again christian. This is where we entered into Gods family and became his child. We are not all Gods children though. And the ones who are not his children the Bible reffers to as "the world". Only those who repent from their sins and accept Jesus Christ as their saviour are able to call themselves children of God. And as children of God we have inherited both privileges and resposibilities.
Privileges of Gods Children
Their are many privileges that come with being a child of God. Stotts booklet Being a Christian lists several. The most unique privilege is that we have the ability to we are related to God and therefore able to have an intimate and an assurred relationship with him. Before becoming his children we were seperated from God by a wall of sin. but we have now been redeemed from that sin through the blood of Jesus. And the Bible reassures us of this fact time and time again throughout the Bible. Some reassurances of the bible include the following versus.
"I write this to you who belive in the name of the Son of God, that you may know you have eternal life"
"This is the testimony that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who has not the Son has not life."
"He who does not believe God, has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne to his Son.
The bible is full of promises God has made to us. And the new baby...
