Are You Stressed?...The Plight Of The American Teen
Are you stressed? I can look you dead in the eye and reply with honesty, not a day goes by when I'm not. The pressure put on kids nowadays is massive, and is causing an epidemic of anxiety attacks to spread throughout high schools across the nation. I find it amazing how I manage to make it through each day without having a complete mental breakdown.
Envision the week of the average student: studying for three chapter exams on Friday, practice everyday after school, games at least two days a week ( resulting in staying up far too late to get homework done), at least two hours of homework each night, two small projects due the following week, juggling a twenty hour work schedule in between, and not to mention the constant reminders of college and the failing economy. Just seeing that on paper makes my back tighten and hands perspire. But thats not the worst part of it all, we not only feel this overwhelming pressure on our physche, that much is clear with the extensive amount of Teenage depression, but we are starting too feel it physically as well, with onslaughts of headaches and backaches. Whether we bring the stress on ourselves with poor time management, or whether it gets piled on by others around us one thing is certain; its this crazy amount of pressure that will surely send my generation into early graves. So once again I would like to ask, are you stressed, or better yet how about your teens?
