The differences between Barack Obama (D) and John McCain (R) can be seen through their political views. Throughout this paper, I will compare and contrast both Obama and McCain and their political views.
As President, Barack Obama will guarantee health coverage for every American and will lower the cost of health care for the average American family by up to $2,500. John McCain’s health plan would tax health benefits which would impose a $3.6 trillion tax increase on working families, the largest in American history. Also, Barack Obama will ease American’s burden at the pump, giving American families $1,000 in rebates. Barack will also create five million new jobs by investing in clean energy technologies. But John McCain’s record on energy puts Big Oil first. McCain has repeatedly opposed alternative energy proposals that help both the environment and working Americans’ pocketbooks.
As far as the trade policy goes, Obama will end tax breaks for companies that send American jobs overseas, and reward companies who create good jobs here at home. McCain keeps tax breaks for companies that send American jobs overseas. Barack Obama will cut both taxes and spending, implementing a responsible budget that lowers the federal deficit by reducing wasteful spending. John McCain’s plan of giving tax cuts to the wealthy and to Big Business will add $3.4 trillion to the national debt, bankrupting America.
Dealing with education, Obama puts children first. He will fight to make sure our classrooms are adequately funded and led by high-quality teachers, and reforming No Child Left Behind to work for the students. But McCain voted for tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans rather than much-needed funding for our students, teachers, and failing local classrooms. Also, the regarding the situation with not enough teachers in the public school systems, Obama plans to create new scholarships to recruit and retain the best teachers for American classrooms.
