Globalisation is an ideological term which can be defined as a widening, deepening and speeding up of worldwide interconnectedness in all aspects of contemporary social life, from the cultural to the criminal, the financial to the spiritual (‘Economic Globalization’, n.d.). In the past few years, this topic has been hotly debated internationally and the transformation brought by this ideology has changed the world’s point of view. Although globalisation generated instability around the globe namely inequality and environmental degradation, this process has helped people to be in a unified manner in terms of culture, industry, economy, politics, technology, information and also finance.
Firstly, globalisation has blown down cultural boundaries in the world. This boundaries fall apart with the help of hi-tech technology such as Internet, fax machines, satellites, and cable TV. Via internet, people are able to access the world without limitation learning others’ culture and lifestyles. With the power of highly-developed technology, people adapt different types of cultures all over the world. This is where other traits of culture such as subculture, popular culture and high culture are widely spread. This cultural diffusion would make people adapt, learn and develop with up-to-date information. For example, one of the aspects of culture that could be seen spreading all over the globe is language.
