The First article talks about what e-cigarettes are. E-cigarettes are a new way for
smokers to stop the habit of smoking traditional cigarettes and still getting the feel of smoking,
It’s for individuals that want to get there nicotine fix without the chemical-laden smoke. E-cigs
work by using an atomizer to heat up nicotine solution. The result is vapor containing the
addictive drug nicotine, which is then inhaled into your lungs. Even though it might be healthier
then a cigarette it still has its health hazardous. The reason is because it still has nicotine in the
solution plus it hasn’t been approved by the FDA as a healthier alternative.
In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration is developing regulations that
will apply to e-cigarettes and vaporizers. Once these regulations are in place, they will be very
difficult to change. However, when harm reduction strategies are often misunderstood or
rejected, there’s a good chance that e-cigarettes and vapors will be excessively regulated. This
article also points out how there is people on both sides of the fence that feel that e-cigarettes
have helped them to cut or reduce their habit and others that feel it will attract new people to the
dangers of nicotine.
The last article I researched is about how new laws in place will affect people smoking e-
cigarettes and how they will be categorized the same as regular tobacco cigarettes. One reason
for this is people argue that it attracts the youth and most importantly, there is not enough
evidence to show that it’s good for you or bad for you. Therefore they feel they must regulate
them like tobacco cigarettes until they gather more research on this new product that’s flooding
