In this paper I am going to discuss how Televerde as a company defines the organizations vision, mission, and vision and how that will affect the overall business goals. Televerde has been in business for fourteen years and had a slow start. In 1995 a man had been going into the women’s correctional facilities in Arizona with his church and met many intelligent and motivated women that had experienced challenges due to bad relationships or addictions. Eventually he realized this was a great opportunity to start a business and help the community as well. The business first started with a couple phone books, a part time supervisor, 5 women employees and a few phones. For a very long time the exact focus and direction of the company was not defined at all, but instead just trying to figure what would work considering the business model of employing convicted felons still in a correction facility. Eventually Jim Hooker decided to become a silent partner and soon realized the company needed a clear business direction so the decision was made to move to B2B with a focus on the IT industry.
It would be a decade before a strategic plan would be worked on and put into practice. For a long period of time it seemed to be a struggle to get the new clients, retain those clients, and provide the quality of work Jim wanted to provide. Twelve years after the start of the business, Televerde started to develop their vision, mission, and values. As stated on the Televerde website, the following is the outcome of over a year of thought and discussions:
