Mo’ne Davis Little League World Series phenome was finally granted permission to release a Chevrolet commercial, which she will star in, without repercussion from the NCAA. When the commercial was first brought to light, the NCAA was threatening to void any future scholarships she could potentially receive. Even scholarships for sports, like basketball and soccer other sports she excels in, and unrelated to the content to be displayed in the commercial. The NCAA has a strict rule against student athletes collecting any kind of endorsements or any form of monetary profiting for their talents as athletes. The issue at hand is the fact that Mo’ne Davis is only 13 years old and is not currently engaged in any form of contract with any college. Still in the eighth grade and is now being told that all of her hard work could be for nothing. I am so relieved that the NCAA has decided to make the right decision in this matter. A decision in which they will allow Mo’ne to receive payment from Chevrolet that will be placed into a trust fund for her to receive at a later date.
