Autobiography
Hello my name is George Mazyck Jr; I was born in Neptune, New Jersey on September
26, 1989. I lived here my entire life, Spending all my childhood with my parents, and all my
summers with my Grandmother who lived nearby. I graduated from Neptune High School in
June of 2007. I made a decision to take a year of to see which school I wanted to attend and
working so I can save money for emergencies. I was an athlete all my life. I played basketball
and football starting at the age of 10. I didn’t grow up in a bad area full of violence, but as I hit
my teenage years things began to get very hectic. In 2006 three of my childhood friends where
driving to a club underage and died in a car accident in November, then my step dad died the day
before Thanksgiving. So I began to spend time with my mom a lot to help her feel better. Then in
2007 my cousin was shot in the head due to gang relation.
Seeing all of these things happen made me realize that there was nothing around the
streets for me. I tried to avoid the streets as much as possible; I was either at work or playing
basketball for my aau basketball team. That’s until I broke my collar bone playing football. After
this occurred I figured I minus well get started with the college applications. I applied for
Virginia State University but didn’t follow up because I was trying to go to a different school. I
realized I was trying to stay too close to home and I may lose focus easily. So I got everything
correct with VSU and was accepted a few weeks later. So I took my summer to hang with my
friends, work, and try to get everything I need for school. August came faster than expected. I
then got on the road and came to school to start my new life experience. This leads me to
today where I’m a freshman at VSU studying Criminal Justice, planning to be a DEA agent. I’m
taking 18 credits a semester and hope to succeed and graduate in 2012.
