Healthful Eating 2
Healthful eating is something we should all be aware of. With all of the different types of foods that are available to us, many of us are not aware of the affects that they have on our bodies. All we know is that they taste good and we will always eat what tastes good. Along with eating healthier, exercise plays an important part in living a healthy life.
There are many good foods that are healthy for you and help you lead a healthier life. Fruits, vegetables and whole grains are good carbohydrates necessary for energy without dangerously raising blood sugar (5). There are also foods that help with specific health related issues. Bananas are perfect for blood pressure, and red grapes will protect your heart and fight disease. Apples and Asian pears will help in lowering your cholesterol by eating just 1 serving per day (6). Eating healthy will make you healthy and lower your risk of health problems.
Just as there are good foods, there are also bad foods for you to consume. The problem is that the foods are not totally bad for you, but if you do not eat them in moderation, they can become dangerous for you. The bottom line is that; “Americans eat too much and exercise too little. And the calories we eat tend not to be from foods that offer the most nutrition for the fewest calories, like fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and low-fat dairy foods”(7). The quantity of "carbs" Americans consume also is a problem, McCullough says. Americans tend to eat too much of nutrient-void French fries and white bread, leading to high blood sugar and an increased risk for conditions such as type 2 diabetes (5).
Eating healthy foods is a good start to a healthier and happier you. But eating healthy is just one part of it. In order to get the full effect of a healthier you, exercise has to be worked into our daily lives. Keep in mind that eating healthy and exercise go hand in hand....
