Impact of Technology Case Study
A toxic computer is it ethically right for computer manufactures to continue to make computers that are hazardous. Computer manufactures should be held to high standards to keep our environment clean, and secure a healthy future for our children. If mercury, lead and hazardous materials are being used in computers what are the expectations for disposing them?
There are plenty of places you can go to dispose of a computer with one of these elements in them properly. Most of the problems with devices lye within the battery, you can take your batteries to Wal-Mart and they will dispose of them properly. Most post offices will also take the devices to dispose of them. Another option is turning them in to a local charity to have them be refurbished and given either to the troop’s overseas, or less fortunate people.
If we do not do one of those options what could be the outcome? I believe that the world is already in a downward spiral. If we continue to ignore the issues of disposing these items properly then we are destroying any chance for future generation to live a happy healthy life. Who are we to take that away from them just because we are too lazy to dispose of hazardous materials, what gives us that right?
Eventually there will be strict laws stating you must dispose of the devices properly but it will more than likely come to late as with must thing do. Health studies already show heavly increases to bad health conditions do to toxic computer devices but yet nothing has been done in enforcing the proper disposal yet. It needs to happen and the sooner the better for all of mankind.
It is overall yours and mine ultimate responsibility to know how to dispose of such devices. If we take are stand here and now and say I can and I will do whatever it takes to make sure I will not pollute this planet and stick to it we can ensure a healthy future for the next generation. We must also share this wisdom with them...
