Describe a person who has had a significant influence on your life.

"Don't just say it, do it" that’s what my Dad would say every single day of his life. Ever since I could understand him he would always say to me, “Do you know how lucky you are, you have a future ahead of you.” At the time I never appreciated quite how important what he was saying was. I simply just replied shortly with “yes Dad, I know”. However reflecting back on my time with him I’ve come to realize that he was right, I really didn’t have any idea how lucky I was.
My dad grew up as any other child in America, until the age of 11 when he was diagnosed with a serious medical condition, which prevented him going to school or college. Becoming a pilot was always his dream but without any qualifications this was impossible and that’s my reasoning behind my ambition in life – becoming the first woman pilot in Arizona. My dad is the motivation and inspiration for me to achieve this, as I know although he may not be here to see it, it will make him proud.
He was always such a hardworking man, and never let his condition stop him from doing anything. No matter what state he was in he would be at every ballet recital I had; even if it meant coming out of hospital to do so. He always made me so proud of him by battling his way through life and now it’s my turn to make him proud.
My Dad always used to say to me “don’t say it, do it” and for the first time ever that’s what I’m going to do. I am going to pursue his dream to highlight how thankful I am for everything he’s done. I want to succeed not just for myself but for my Dad too even if he won’t be here to witness it.
