Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2 is a 2010 action/adventure, superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Iron Man. It is the sequel to 2008's Iron Man, and is the third film released as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Jon Favreau and Kenneth Branagh, Iron Man 2 brings back Robert Downey Jr. as leading man Tony Stark, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, and in a shocking move, replaces Terrance Howard with Don Cheadle as James Rhodes.
The first movie was just great and fans expected a sequel even before it was announced. Did this film do it’s predecessor justice? As usual, the film gives the audience what it promised in the trailers: Action, explosions, action, guns, action, lasers, and did I mention action? Never a genre to shy away from fire, destruction and spectacle, Iron Man 2 pushes the CGI to the hilt, it’s truly fantastic. As with most movie series, however, the sequels (usually the second) would most likely lack that “wait in lines around the block for first midnight showing” and, “I’m gonna talk about it for days!” kind of excitement.
The sequel to the explosive original has made its inauguration two years later and still on top of the competition. Iron Man 2 is just as good if not better than the first entry to the series. The entire world is well aware that Tony Stark is the infamous Iron Man and the government wants to get the details and technology out of him. Being the smart-mouth, ego maniac that he is, he denies the government the opportunity because he fears the equipment will fall into the wrong hands. With a new villain (Mickey Rourke) and a supporting cast of considerable talent in their own right: Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, and Gwyneth Paltrow, it’s hard to believe Iron Man 2 could ever be a bad movie. Even Jon Favreau has a role. I go back and forth on Paltrow’s chemistry with Stark and the rest of the cast but I suppose she performs fine in the Iron Man movies, I do feel like they could have made a better choice...
