Kudler Fine Foods: Problem Statement
Kudler Fine Foods is a gourmet grocery store that sells the finest meats, produce, cheeses, and wine. Kathy Kudler is the founder and owner of Kudler Fine Foods. Kathy has three stores one in La Jolla, Del Mar, and Encinitas. At all three locations Kathy has a manager, an assistant manager, cashier, and part-time stockers. Even though Kathy has these employees she still does a lot of work herself. “Kathy spends most of her time at the stores, selecting and ordering product, occasionally running the cash register, and sometimes even stocking the shelves after the store closes or before it opens in the morning,” (University of Phoenix, 2003). She works seven days a week, not given her any time to interact with her customers anymore.
There are several issues Kudler Fine Foods have: these are the ones my team members decided on human resources, improvement of website, marketing, and overstocking perishable items. One of the weaknesses with Kudler Fine Foods “is small management team with lots of responsibilities. For example, when Kathy is sick or on vacation, no one is able to order replacement inventory or deal with major business issues,” (University of Phoenix, 2003). I decided to focus on human resources and how it will help Kudler Find Foods. Kudler Fine Foods will create a human resource department to operate effectively by allowing their employees to develop and enhance skills in their specific area.
How can Kathy help her human resource team to operate effectively? I would advise Kathy on is to work closely with her personnel to guide and train them to handle their responsibilities as she feels is appropriate, but remain open to new and innovative ideas.
