Learning Team B: Website Navigation Evaluation/Kudler Fine Foods
Evaluate the navigation, performance, marketing, e-commerce, and community of the existing website. Explain the strengths and weakness of the existing site in these areas.
Navigational Issues
Kudler Fine Foods has several issues concerning the navigational capabilities of the virtual organization’s website. The first major issue LTB noticed is that the site has too many icons located on the top menu and found it to be rather confusing as all the icons are related to food items except for the home image. According to KISSmetrics.com (2013), “ with fewer menu items, your visitors’ eyes are less likely may scan past important items. Every time you remove a menu item, the remaining items become more prominent. Challenge yourself to limit your navigation to five items.” To address this issue, LTB proposes to combine the food items under one Icon- Our Products to provide the user with improved access options.
Secondly, after in depth team analysis and discussion, LTB could not find the hours of operation of the company’s brick and mortar locations listed anywhere on the site. LTB believes the top navigation menu should include the following icons and display information using hover:
* Home- displays basic company information
* Our Products- displays basic product choices
* News- displays basic industry news on local and national level
* Locations/Hours- displays Kudler’s different locations to include store hours
Furthermore, the team plans to employ Hover technology to allow the audience to view options without actually clicking on the icon. This should alleviate some the confusion associated with “clicking” on icons and waiting for unwanted information to load; thereby, making the site more user...
