I found this article to be both very helpful and insightful. I knew that I was attending a liberal arts school, but I had no idea just how beneficial it was. Although many general education courses are required in liberal education institutions, these courses are designed to emphasize communication and critical-thinking skills; two highly valued assets employers are looking for in employees. Another thing I found interesting in this article was the fact that many graduates of liberal education schools have increasing chances of getting jobs, receiving increased salaries, and are qualified for a wide spectrum of different careers. I also liked that the article emphasized the importance of networking and getting connected with different people who can increase the chances of getting a job. Additional points that I really enjoyed about this article were the pre-career tips geared to help graduates and students plan for a job in the future. I learned a lot of things that I would not have known, especially with the resume process and the numerous resources designed to aid individuals who want a job. Personally, I am filled with some uncertainty about my major/career choice. I would like to have a career that somehow involves music, and that is a type of career that is quite alternative to the norm. Reading this article gave me some sense of hope and reassurance that I am in a good place at the moment. Although I’m not sure what is in store for my future, I am still receiving an education and am developing traits and skills that will help me engage in a career and do an efficient job. Prior to college I was very unsure about the future and had questioned whether or not college would enable me to get a job I was satisfied with. Now that I have had first-hand experience of college and have learned from others, I feel that getting a career is much more tangible that I had once perceived.
