Setting:
The differences between the two stories for me was that A Good Man Is Hard to Find centered around the grandmother, son, the wife, grandson, granddaughter, and the three criminals with one being the Misfit. Where the grandmother was only concerned about her and what she wanted. The Love in L.A story centered around Jake and Mariana where Jake was really only concerned about himself. The one thing that I found in common was that both stories involved car accidents.
Characters:
Love in L.A;
Jake was the kind of man that causes girls to dislike or distrust men, he was only concerned about himself, he lied, and provided fake information to Mariana. For me, Jake can be considered both a protagonist because he can be considered the leading character in the story, and the antagonist which would be the enemy – a liar and a cheat. Mariana appeared to be a young lady because she still lived at home and her father had purchased her car for her. She did not trust the information that Jake provided to her which was evident in the story when she pulled up behind Jakes car to write down his license plate information as she was very suspicious of him and his actions.
A Good Man Is Hard to Find;
The grandmother was all about what she wanted as she tried everything to convince her son to take everyone to Tennessee (where she wanted to go) instead of to Florida. The children were out of control as evident of the little girl screaming and the boy kicking the back of the driver’s car seat hard enough for the father to feel the blows in his kidney as he was driving. The father and mother seemed to be laid back folks who catered to the kids and the grandmother. Then there was the Misfit who appeared to be the leader of the other two escaped...
