My Little Happiness
If you ask me what did you do in the winter holiday, I want to say that almost everything I did was related to the great festival——the Spring Festival. It is not only an ordinary traditional festival but also the greatest and most important festival in China. We celebrate it with various methods, like playing firecrackers, hanging lantern, affixing Spring Festival couplets and so on. Meanwhile, on Lunar New Year eve, every family will get together to have a banquet. On the next day, which we call the beginning of New Year, people usually make ceremonial calls to wish good luck to relatives and friends.
Certainly, the Spring Festival is also the busiest time of the year for Chinese people. The arrangements they have to make for family reunions, buying necessities and preparing food keeps them busy throughout the holiday. When I was a child, I love this festival so much because I can eat delicious food, wear new clothes and get red packages from my parents and relatives. Undoubtedly, this feeling is not so strong when I grow up, but I still expect this festival due to the happiness it brings for us.
I have said before that we should prepare a variety of delicious food for the new year, what I want to talk about here is the food we prepare. In my hometown, people will make steamed bun with various stuffing, such as meat, red bean, vegetables, which is my favorite food. Of course, we should make the steamed bun ourselves which seems difficult for me. it’s about 5 days before the new year, my mother begin to prepare the ingredients to make steamed bun. She also said to me: “darling, you are old enough to learn to make steamed bun and I will teach you, ok?” I was very excited to get this assignment because I can eat steamed bun made by myself.
