The Beach – My Sanctuary
A sanctuary: A place of refuge or asylum to escape everyday problems. It is an area where you feel safe, even though you know that lurking just outside your special small place is the rest of the world. There are a million places in the world, some pleasurable and some not so pleasurable. If you ask me what my favorite place is it wouldn’t be too hard to think about it. One comes to mind and that is the beach.
On those occasional days when the environment around me seems to be filled with chaos, I escape to the tranquility of the beach. The one I travel to is known as Siesta Key and located just south of Sarasota, FL. The reason I chose this beach and not a different one is because of the landscaping. It has the whitest and softest sand, along with very pretty palm tree. This is where I feel most safe and comfortable, where I can always be myself. When I’m at the beach, I am in the best of moods. If I just had the worse day nothing makes me happier than coming here.
The instant I step foot onto the pure white sand, my heart rate began to slow down and my mind started focusing on the beauty surrounding me. Walking through the sand cushioning my feet, I admired a more serene world. The weather was perfect for a day at the beach. The clear sky didn't have a single cloud obstructing the rays of the glowing sun. One of the first things I observed was that there weren’t many people there at all and I was definitely not expecting that. It was very surprising considering it was on a Saturday, Labor Day weekend and a gorgeous day outside. There were only about maybe 10 people with a few children as well, enjoying what I would call – a perfect relaxation day
After deciding that I wanted to swim in the translucent waters with the colorful fish, I built a stunning sandcastle. It looked as if it were Cinderella’s and had many passageways throughout it. From there I took a long, peaceful nap to a slight breeze and the scent of dew. After...
