Neonatal Nurse
Just like everyone you change your mind about a job you want as you get older. At first I wanted to become a doctor or a teacher but then when I was about 13, nurse stuck with me. From the time, I was fascinated with helping people, to being in the room when two of my brothers were born. Being a nurse has always made me wonder and want to become.
A neonatal intensive care nurse is what I would like to major in. One thing that really stood out to me about this career was the fact I would daily be spending my time with infants. I could have become a teacher or preschool instructor, but the feeling and passion I feel for helping and taking care of infants and other patients is indescribable. This also hit home for me because my biological mother had many issues with all of her children and I’d like to have my children in good hands, while they rest and prepare to take their new family member back to their home.
Neonatal nurses’ often take and provide for new born babies while their mother prepares to go home. Neonatal nurses’ may also take care with infants with problems such as birth effects, premature, infection, cardiac malformations, and surgical problems. Some infants may be sick up to five months and can also be taken care for, for almost two years. These nurses’ also record the progress of the infant as it develops habits and becomes more stable to go home. This has also, been a present affect to make me want to work with infants more than just daily patients.


My mother’s issues with my brothers and sisters have affected me by making me realize that problems can occur to anyone. My siblings, Jacob and Hayden were two of the siblings who got low birth weight when they were born. This caused them to stay in the hospital nearly 3 weeks after birth. My mother...
