Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the effects of obesity in America. This research will make you aware of obesity in America and how it can affect our lives. With a small mindset change and dedication you can change your live for the better. Just because you are getting healthy dose not mean no more delicious food, just knowing the healthy portions of the food and knowing how the food can work or not work with our bodies.

More than two-thirds of adult Americans are obese. That’s about 78.6 Million adult Americans (CDC 2015). With having roughly about 14,339 McDonald’s in the United States alone (statista 2014), not including all the other delicious places to eat. It is very easy to see how America’s obesity rates are among the highest in the world. Obesity continues to grow in the United States, two out of three Americans are considered to be overweight or obese. Obesity has led to over 120,000 deaths each year in America (America Heart Association 2015). It can lead to chronic health problems such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, liver disease, sleep apnea and depression among many other health problems. People with obesity are more likely to incur $1,500 more in medical expenses each year compared to a healthy American (Stanford 2015). Being obese is no healthier than a person who is a smoker.
Exercising can be very difficult to do or to make time for. After a long day of work, kids, and everything else we do in our daily lives makes us completely wore out and tried to do any extra physical activity, knowing we can go home and relax. Along with our busy lives most of Americans do not eat a healthy diet. Americans are about quick and easy, so with many of us Americans we tend to eat out way more then what we should, due to convenience. With the correct mind set you can change your life style.
