1. Identify and explain who the Client(s) would be in this OD situation.
In this particular OD situation there is more than one client to be Identified as this scenario involves more than one organisation and different groups of people which would all be dealt with in different manners.
The Contact and Primary Client in this OD situation would be the NHS as the NHS (Strategic Health Authority) was the OD Practitioners first point of contact as they employed the practitioner to use their expertise to improve the organisation and its operations. They could also be named the ultimate client as they are the larger organisation responsible for the care of the patients and standard that their staff keeps. (Anderson 2012. p106)
The Intermediate Clients would be would be Stratford Hospitals Management Board who were asked to cooperate with the OD Practitioner and who provide information regarding the reports that have been circulating and also the staff of the hospital who the reports are concerning. The management would help the OD Practitioner in data gathering which would be used to compile reports. (Anderson 2012. p106)
The Unwitting and Indirect Clients would be the Patients of the Hospital as they are affected by the bad practice within the hospital and will benefit from any improvements made in the running of the organisation. The general public would also fall under this category especially in the local area as they could in future become patients of the hospital. The patients and general public wouldn’t be involved in the data gathering stage. (Anderson 2012. p106)
