How office automations affect how we work and the process that we follow to complete a
desired assignment. It involves a written process of instructions, visual presentations or how to
use a visual aid and sound from computer aided processes. It provides a process to simplify and
organize all activities the company performs on a daily basis from the mail room to the CEO. It
connects the company’s employees via computer, telephone and allows them to communicate in
an efficient manner. Many companies today require the need for increased communications, the
use of the paper memos are a thing of the past. Computers relay messages through email, and
memos are now sent electronically, and the recipient receives it instantaneously from across the
hall to across the globe. The use of computers have automated the work environment to improve
the process and enabling the company to be more productive. This process affects every
department from Human Resources, Mail Room, Sales, Production, Marketing, Manufacturing
and so on.
Group Collaboration
The use of Office Automation and Group Collaboration software allow the production
manager of that work center to see what step, process, or work order the technician is working
on for that specific torpedo component. There are four major components that make up the
MK 48 MOD 6 Torpedo, each section has its own process and uses a specific diagram.
The process software is known as APCS (Automated Processing Central Stations), each
computer is a laptop that is on a rolling cart, that is connected to a battery backup built into
the cart. The computers are connected via drops to the LAN to access the software that
contains the specific work order and the specified job sheet associated with that maintenance...
