Topic: My past and I.
Specific Purpose: To inform my classmates about myself.
Central Idea: Some choices and events have led me to my life today and without reminiscing on them, I may have never really put it all together.
INTRODUCTION
Attention-getter: Sometimes in life it’s easy to get caught up in what is now, and never look back to fully appreciate what led you to where you are. With all of our daily commitments and stresses forgetting to reminisce in the past is easy to do. Sometimes we have a tendency to purposely block out our past because we don’t want to look back and remember.
Credibility material: I normally have the former way of thinking, however recently I have begun to reminisce in the events that have gotten me where I am and made me who I am today. Some may say that it is because I am in a transitional part of my life being that I am getting married in a month and a half, but who knows.
Relevance to audience & Preview of speech: Today I will be describing some of my past memories and experiences and will link them back to my life now. I ask that you follow along with my tales and remember an influential event in your own. I will begin by exploring how my relationship with my biological father has influenced me, then I will move on to how even after issues with my father died down what I had learned stuck with me, and lastly I will move on to how a simple choice in 5th grade led to me meeting someone who has ultimately changed my life forever.
