Business leaders must have a clear vision of their company sustainable goals and objectives. Managers must developed sustainable strategies that will satisfy their employees, stakeholders, investors, vendors, and create a profit for the company. To have an effective sustainable program, the leader should lead by example when trying to achieve those goals and objectives. This paper will discuss how Marie Ziegler, Vice president of John Deere instilled a culture of sustainability, and increase sustainability for her company.
John Deere company was founded in 1837 and start doing business in Grand Detour, Illinois. The company started producing plows with curved edges that allowed farmers to plow through red clay without dirt clumping on the plow. This innovative idea quickly made John Deere a household name. The company core values are centered on quality products, commitment to their customers, integrity, and innovation of newer and better products.

Marie Ziegler has been employed with John Deere since 1978, holding multiple positions along the way. During her tenure there, Maria has constantly help John Deere grow and remained profitable. She currently holds the position of Vice President, responsible for the company Environmental Management System (EMS) program.
