When some people hear the words “Police Officer” a few words such as disgust, racist, and bias come to mind. Others tend to look up to police officers for doing their job and protecting our communities. However, multiple incidents over the last few years have caused people to change their minds. Yes, the people of Ferguson, Missouri, in particular, have changed from having positive outlooks towards police officers to negative.
The chokehold causing the death of Eric Garner in New York City, to the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, are situations that have been used recently against all police officers to make them appear to be racist. Because of these incidents police around the United States have been accused of this atrocious attitude. However, most police officers should not unjustly be accused of racial discrimination because of the few amount of officers that may in fact be racist.
