Role of Conflict and Power Paper
I chose the movie Legally Blond, all the elements of conflict and power are effectively used throughout the whole story. I will be discussing eight of the characters that our main character has the most interaction with. Half way through the presentation is when you see the change in attitude between the characters and Elle turning conflict to her own advantage. I will give a synopsis of the movie and the characters roles to each other and the main character. I will be sharing my own personal views and analyzing the difference in conflict and functions of communication and power between the characters. I will explain the purpose of self- disclosure and will discuss if self-disclosure exists between the characters in the movie.
The central character is Elle Woods a senior close to graduation from a college in California where she majors in fashion merchandising. Elle is the president of a very popular sorority the Delta Nu’s on campus; she is very confident, beautiful and believes that the world is at her feet. Elle is asked to dinner by her boyfriend Warner whom she is expecting to propose marriage, but instead he breaks her heart. Warner Huntington the III is her soon to be ex-boyfriend he comes from a family of politicians and is expected to attend Harvard after graduation, We know his grandmother flew in to town and we assume it was to bring the engagement ring for Elle. What is not witnessed is the conflict he must had in their conversation, because now he doesn't feel that Elle is a good fit for his future. Emmett is a 3rd year law student at Harvard Law and is the assistant to professor Callahan.
