Safety or Security
We as Americans live in the most amazing country in the entire world, the United states of
america. As americans we are entitled to the rights in the constitution in which the founders of our great
country created and established. As an American citizen you are entitled to many rights that people have
died for over the years, and you are granted freedoms others can only dream about. The problem in
todays society is that many other countries hate america and americans and want to destroy our peace
and harm the innocent, these people are called terrorists. The government in the U.S. has tried to put a
stop to these terrorists with what we now call government surveillance. Government surveillance is done
by the N.S.A. or the national security agency, this is a good thing to protect us from acts of terror and
harm. There are many pros and cons to government surveillance such as the cost of surveillance,
invading privacy rights and stopping terrorism in its tracks.

Government surveillance is a very important topic in today's society and there are two sides to
this like there is everything else. There is the side in which people are supporting government
surveillance to stop terrorism and there is the side that opposes government surveillance because they
think its a waste of money and infringes on our privacy. The N.S.A. is who is doing this government
surveillance, they are made up of two different branches, the internal body and the external body. The
external body is made up of the house permanent select committee on intelligence, the senate select
committee, the president's intelligence oversight board, and the department of defense. The internal
