1. Describe the benefits that SAP information system provided for the TfGM
TfGM being the managing authority for United Kingdom’s transport service; required a tool which could help them in addressing their work related issues along with a developing accountability amongst the employees where they could address them the future plans.
TfGM’s Information System Director, David Hytch said that the system and process they had was rigid and the visibility of the data was limited and controlled. The employees here lacked motivation for the innovations and initiatives. In order to change the system and culture they hired a CEO from private sector. Mr. Hytch also mentioned that they were lacking effective reporting system and accountability methods, and in order to bring change they opted for SAP, which they felt was the right solution, SAP ERP and SAP CRM (Customer Relationship Management). The decision of adopting SAP information system helped TfGM to overcome many problems that they were facing, where it helped them to take their own informed strategic decisions.
TfGM was looking forward for a tool which would help in reporting and which could address the Freedom of Information Act and other regulatory measures and laws. Logica, suggested that TfGM can set up the SAP Business Object Solution which integrates the SAP Net Weaver Business warehouse component, SAP Business Object Web Intelligence Software, SAP Business Objects Dashboard Software and the SAP Business Objects Strategy Management application. With the help of these integrated tools TfGM was able to deliver accountability and transparency which was required at TfGM to manage the operation along with the people. These tools also helped them in keeping a track of other projects and budget associated with the same.
