How to burn a custom CD with your home computer Have you ever been at the music store, and wished that you could make your own cd just with the songs you want to hear? Well the process is very simple; in just a few steps you can now stop buying a whole cd just wanting to hear one song from it. This process from start to end will take about 10-30 depending on if you know what songs you want on the cd. Materials Needed A desktop or laptop computer with Windows XP A blank cd-rom .mp3 files of your favorite songs WARNING: .mp3 files are intended for backup use only and should not be downloaded if you do Steps Start out by powering up your computer, making sure everything is loaded on the computer before you start your cd burning process. In any version of Microsoft Windows, you should have the program called Windows Media Player. This is the most basic way to burn your cd’s. There are more advanced ways to burn a cd, but these instructions will only follow the most basic way. Get your blank cd you purchased earlier, now proceed to open your cd-tray and put your blank cd inside of the drive and close it. Your computer should read the cd and recognize it is a blank cd, it will bring up a list of options, click on the option reading “Create an audio cd”. You should now see that Windows Media Player has opened up on your computer. If it does not start up automatically, you will need to find where the program is located (usually in the startup menu) and open it up manually. Next you need to open the folder containing your music that you want to put on the cd.
