Rediscovering Filipino Values. I see. I act. I advocate.

To our distinguished guest, highly respected members of the faculty, classmates, school mates, friends, ladies and gentlemen , this is Blanche Tupa, greeting you a very vigorous day.
I am a third year marine transportation student and I am here to share to you a simple message on how Filipino values been transforming from generation to generation.
Few weeks ago, while I was surfing the internet, I was brought to a page where videos on the 2nd voice of the youth oratorical contests were featured. The theme of the said contest was something like this: Rediscovering Filipino Values: I see, I act, I advocate. I got the chance to view the champion orator’s speech. I was moved, not only by his way of persuasion but also by the thoughts he was trying to convey.
Indeed, Filipino values have been transforming and evolving from generation to generation. This has been manifested by our youth today. We now belong in a generation they call different. We are no longer living like the way our parents and grandparents used to be. Compared to them, we are now more candid, more audacious, more spirited, and more different. Contributing to these issues are the CHANGE that we want to implement and see around us, and the technological fad and globalization that we are trying to cope up with.
In just a click of the log-in button, aboard we come to the social environment of facebook. Instead of going outdoors and mingling with real people, we now tend to sit for the whole day in front of our computers and quote and quote SOCIALIZE like fake after adding or confirming someone on facebook.
Gone are the days when we bathe in the pouring rain and play with real toys and real physical games. With joysticks both in our hands, we could play anytime, anyway that we want in a virtual world where friendship and comradeship are not necessary at all times.
