I recently read a magazine article about the top ten family vacation spots in North Carolina. I have been to a lot of places in North Carolina and nowhere compares to the beach. The beach is the best place for a family vacation.
To begin with, the beach is so peaceful and relaxing. I love to just sit and listen to the sound of the crashing waves. It’s so refreshing sipping on tart lemonade while sunbathing in the crisp hot sun and when it gets really hot, I love to dip my toes into the cool water. I enjoy the sounds of seagulls flying around and hearing the laughter of the children. There is nothing like feeling the squishy sand between my toes. These are things that remind me just how great the beach really is!
Second, there are endless activities I can do while at the beach. My favorite things are to go fishing, surfing, and hunt seashells. I enjoy fishing at the beach either on the pier or surf fishing. It seems easier to catch fish from the pier and it’s also a lot of fun to look around to see what everybody else has caught. One time the man beside me caught an enormous shark. It was so exciting everybody came to take a peak. I had my picture taken beside of the shark. When I am not casting my rod I love to go surfing. It’s so exciting waiting for the right wave, timing it perfect and then riding the wave all the way back to the shore. What a thrill to see how many
waves you can catch in a day. My favorite thing to do is to hunt seashells. The best time to go is before sunlight. I take a flashlight and bucket then head out to search for beautiful shells to take home with me. Sometimes I pick up a shell to find that I am not alone, there is something still living in the shell, which can be very scary when you don’t expect it! I like to find the big clonk shells so when I get home I can hold the shell to my ear and hear the sounds of the ocean. Anytime I start thinking about the beach...
