Running Head: Jesus’ Kingdom The Galilean Ministry “The Perean Ministry, The Passion Week, and The Resurrection” Mallorie M. Vasquez BIB 123 January 16, 2009 The Galilean Ministry “Galilee was divided into upper Galilee and lower Galilee. It has already been marked that upper Galilee was inhabited by a mixed population called, Galilee if Gentiles. The highroads if commerce ran through it. It was the way of the sea-a scene of constant traffic. The people were rude, ignorant, and superstitious, and were densely crowded together in towns and villages. About 160 BC there were only a few Jews in the midst of a large heathen population; but by the time of Christ the Jewish element had greatly increased. The busiest portion of this busy district was round the Sea of Galilee, and the Northeast corner of which stood Capernaum-wealthy and cosmopolitan.” (Bible History, 2008) I will continue to explain how the Kingdom of God and Jesus brought important features to the Jews. I believe that Perean Ministry, The Passion Week, and The Resurrection Ministry were highly important events in the Galilean Ministry, and brought significant events. “Before Jesus’ final conflict in Jerusalem, he spent several months ministering Perea.” (Battle, 2006) The territory of Perea was referred to as the Herod of Antipas, which was located on the east side of the Jordan River. “Luke’s gospel is the main source of information for this period of Jesus’ life. John does speak of a few events of this period, most notably the raising of Lazarus. Matthew and Mark mention a few of the teachings and conflicts of Jesus during this time.” (Battle, 2006) It appears that when we look at Jesus’ ministry, it is associated mostly with Luke. In looking at the Jesus and the Perean Ministry, I believe that he was there teaching the disciples the ropes that were required to be a follower of Jesus.
