The Liberty to Strangle Liberty?
The United States Constitution clearly states that our government is to “…promote the general welfare, and ensure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity….” (Constitution) Should the pursuit of individual liberties be allowed to trump the general welfare? What about the liberties of others? I will examine a couple of issues to show that giving homosexuals the new liberty of so-called “same-sex marriage” is a political Trojan horse that will be used to strangle and thus “checkmate” the liberties afforded to all Americans since 1791; this strangling of others’ liberties and the harmfulness / high medical cost of the homosexual lifestyle will obviously harm the general welfare and thus should be vigorously opposed by citizens as well as our government. Please pay close attention to the next four (4) paragraphs as I will explain the parameters of this paper and give the outline of my argument.
Please note that I am distinguishing between average "just stay out of my business" homosexuals and political "I will judge and attack the actions, words, and even thoughts of anyone who doesn't fully endorse my lifestyle" homosexuals. They will be mentioned throughout the paper as average homosexuals or political homosexuals.
Note that this paper is not addressing the actual harm or lack of harm of “same-sex marriage” to society. Many papers have already been written on the topic. On the other hand, little attention has been given to the dangerous political ramifications and why the proponents of “same-sex marriage” so relentlessly pursue it when the demand is so low. In fact, the arguments I make and the multiple examples of oppression I present have virtually been ignored by the mainstream media.
