Sunset throwing red color on the water and trees of the river bank. Joyous memories about small mountain river near my home where I grew up. I remember those October sunsets when the leafs on a trees is the same color as the sunset. River had changed over the years and now this river just part of the city. But long time ago when I was a child that river was part of the wild nature. Part where every animal played important role in the river system.
I grew up in the city which located on the western part of Ukraine. My city is located near Carpathian mountains and not too far from my house going small mountain river with cold like ice water all year round. Because its mountain river that easy and fast raising water level if raining in the mountains or in the city. A few hours after rain starts, small river become a one mile wide "monster" with dirty water and floating trees.
When I was a child river didn't have actual bank because every few weeks after rain river was changing place. For example, today you coming to the river and you see that its going near the river side road. After rain you coming to exact same place and only you can see is gravel. Water after flood went different way like a snake rushing through the grass river flows through the forest. When I was six years old the city built dam. Dam was twelve feet high along the river from both sides to keep flood under control. They narrow down the river and became more evaluable land for houses. Over the years that extra half a mile of land along the river became construction site. The forest was cut down. After that I remember disappeared Scops Owl who was living in forest. I was used to watch them in the evening seating on the branch of a tree and looking for pray like mouse, rabbit or snake. Hundreds of houses was built, roads and a few delis opened. Four years ago when I left the country most of the houses weren't finished yet and some of the roads didn't have asphalt.
