Inaugural Function – Mr. Sanjeev bikhchandani
The two day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp organized by Centre for Entrepreneur Development has been a great learning and motivating experience. It gave a stimulus to the desire for being an entrepreneur. The Program started with an Inaugural Function with Mr. Sanjeev Bikhchandani, founder of Naukri.com, as the chief guest.
Mr. Sanjeev Bikhchandani after his PG left a fairly comfortable job marketing Horlicks at HMM (now known as GlaxoSmithKline) in 1990 to set up two companies Indmark and Info Edge. In 1997, Bikhchandani set up Naukri.com, jobs portal on a server in the United States, and later Quadrangle, an offline executive search business. He was selected as a finalist for "Ernst and Young - Entrepreneur of the Year" award in 2005.
Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Idea generation - Dr. Anita T. Lal
In this session we were introduced to the origin and basic definition of Entrepreneurship. We learned that an Entrepreneur is a person who has an idea and passion to take it forward and execute it in a commercially viable manner. Mr. Richard Cantillon coined the term Entrepreneurship and the very first interpretation of an Entrepreneur was a risk taker. We also understood the concept of protestant ethics.
We became aware of Joseph Schumpeter, Father of Entrepreneurship, and his theory of Entrepreneurship, that is, coming up with a new product, a new technology, a new source of raw materials, a new market for your product and doing things in a different way. We also learnt why people become Entrepreneur and what various personality traits of an Entrepreneur are.
